Verfication of Backup

Post by solsab@c-cs.com » Mon Oct 18, 2004 3:49 pm

As a former SourceSafe user, I am used to verifying the integrity of my backups by restoring them to a different folder.

Is there anything similar that I can do with SourceGear?

If you're concerned about the integrity of SQL Server backups you could backup the database, then before any code changes were made, detach the current database and attach the backup. Then keep the current database for the backup. Kind of clunky, but if it eases your mind . . .

SQL Server will also (optionally) verify any backups it makes. If you use Enterprise Manager to backup your Vault database (instead of the Vault admin tool), you can check the SQL event logs to make sure the database verified.
