Vault standard version 5.1.1
Hi,
My computer is configured with a triple boot system, so i can develop en debug under various operating systems (Windows XP / Windows 7 32bit / Windows 7 64Bit). The "sources" are of course shared between the different OSes and are the same physical machine.
The problem is, when i boot Windows Xp the machine name is "LaptopWxp" when i boot Windows 7 the machine name is "LaptopW7"
These different machine names with a shared source give strange results in Vault. When everything is checked in under Windows 7 32bit, i do a reboot and start Windows 7 64bit and start Vault, half of my sources say "needs merge" while in fact it's the same source.
Is there a solution to prevent this behaviour?
Kind regards,
IJmert van Gorsel

Re: Virtual machines and shared source folder
The file status is determined by comparing the file in the working folder to the file's baseline in your client-side cache. The client side cache is in your user profile, so is probably in a different location for each Windows version (Documents and settings on XP, Users on Win 7, etc).
You could try storing the baseline files in the working folders. That way there will be a consistent set of baselines for each Windows boot. This setting is in the Vault Client under Tools->Options->Local Files->Cache Location->Store Working Folder State/Baseline files . . .
