Newbee Q: two similtanous users - problems adding files

Post by jhammerstad » Wed Mar 28, 2012 3:37 am

Hi,
I have been using Vault for some years in the one-user edition. Now we bought 2 licenses because I have gotten a new colleague to work with me on some projects.
The project can be checked in og out without problems by both of us independently, but when one of us has startet editing some files in the project, the other user cannot create new files or folders, because 'the .csproj is checked out exclusively'.
What are we doing wrong? :)
Is there any way to not lock the project-file exclusively?
How does everybody else do this? :)
- We are absolutely newbees about being two programmers on the same project, but I simply don't believe that is it not possible for different programmers to create new files.

You can make the .csproj a mergeable file, then two people can edit it at once. I the Vault admin web page, expand the repository that you want to change and click File Types. Then add csproj to the list of mergeable file types.

You will need to restart your clients and/or Visual Studio to pick up the change.
