Accessing The Vault Server Remotely

Hi Gang,

Thanks to the excellent support at SourceGear, I've got the server installed and the clients on my desktop and laptop. Are is working well within my home network.

The next step is to be able to connect to the server from my laptop over the internet. I've got an account with a DDNS provider, so I have a domain name. Can someone who has experience with this give me a walk-through? I'm not an internet expert.

Make sure port 80 (or whatever port in IIS is used by your Vault Server machine) is open to http/https traffic.

Then in the Connect to Server dialog, type in your Vault username, password, and the Domain name from your provider, for example:

rogermon.com

As a test, try to connect to your Vault home page:

http://rogermon.com/VaultService

That works!

But...What I was expecting is to connect via the client, like with the demonstration server you maintain. I've not been able to figure that out yet.

Hi Again!

I'm pleased to report that, after looking at the express evaluation directions again, I figured out how to connect the client to my server!

Now...if I could just get Windows 7 to work as well!!
