Checkout operation failed

I'm using SOS 4.0.2 integrated with VS.NET 2002
I have 2 problems:

1.When I try to checkout a file for edit i get an error:
 "Checkout operation failed"
and later messagebox:
 "Checkout error or user canellation
File was not checked out."

2. If a file is checked out by a VSS user, I do not see the proper status icon in VS.NET, although when move cursor over this file, the hint says
"Checked out by someone else or in another place"

Does someone know why this is happening?

Are the files already checked out by someone else (VSS user, for instance?)

Check in the VSS Admin tool->Options to see if multiple checkouts are enabled. If not, only one person can check out a file.

VS.NET does not show the files as checked out when another user has them checked out, but you can use the SOS Client to see if the files are already checked out.
