One developer in team gets instant Session No Longer Valid?

Post by bpd » Tue Aug 03, 2004 9:09 am

Of a team of 4 developers, 1 PC cannot seem to gain a valid connection to the Vault Server.

This is not the typical Unable To Connect To Server message or whatever, rather you can Login successfully and choose a repository, after a short pause a Session No Longer Valid message appears. CLicking Ok closes the Vault Client.

There is nothing else running on the PC than anyother that we can see, same OS, same IE security settings, same Proxy settings

Help

Does the server log anything that might point out a problem? Also, it would be useful to put the server in Debug loggin mode and to try again.

P.S. The Vault Server log just shows any user from this PC as having loogged in then logged out

You can set the server's logging level in the Vault Admin tool on the Server Options tab. You will need to restart IIS after changing the setting by clicking Start->Run and typing iisreset. This will recycle the IIS process, so all users will have to log in to Vault again.

bpd,

We've just identified a bug in Vault that might trigger the behavior that you're seeing. Please email me and I will send a new build that might solve your problem.

For everyone elses benefit this problem was eventually corrected through the use of the TreeDeltaCompressionThreshold

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=1450

Judging by the supporting text that describes what this function does it will have a detrimental effect on performance for clients connecting across low bandwidth links ?

Incidently I could switch it back up to 1000 one the client had successfulyl conencted at least once whilst the setting had a value of 0? [/u]

Because the setting applies to all users, any new users that have to download the entire tree might have the same problems if TreeDeltaCompression is turned on.

Yes low bandwidth connections will be slower when downloading the full tree structure.
