I'm trying to run VaultClient_3_1_9.msi (found here) in 64-bit Win7.
I get "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I'm doing contract work and this is the version my is my employer requested I install.
After getting this error, I tried the latest client (5.1) and was able to install, but when I connected to their server I was told (going from memory now) that the server's protocol was not supported by that client. This error dialog included a link, which is said was to a client that supported that server's protocol, but the link was broken.
Any ideas?

Vault 3.1.9 is not supported on Windows 7. The version is supported on Windows XP. You could try to run it in XP compatibility mode to see if that works. Because there are several years between the release of Vault 3.1.0 and Windows 7, the two were not tested together.
You won't be able to connect to a Vault 3.1.9 server with other client versions.
If Vault 3.1.9 won't work in compatibility mode, then you might try to run it on a virtual machine that has XP on it.
Your employer might be running into the same issues though with Windows 7, unless they are all still on Windows XP. You might check into what they did for their new machines.
Other ideas might be to right-click the installer and select Run As Administrator.
