Re: pine
Pin prevents updates from being applied to a file or folder. You can't check in changes to a pin. You can use pin to also set an older version to be the point at which changes are stopped at. For example, if you have a file with 5 versions, you can pin it in history at version 3. The changes from 4 and 5 aren't applied to the file when you perform a Get. Another use for pin is to stop one side of a share from updating. Normally, with a share, what is updated on one side gets updated on the other. You can pin one side of a share to stop the update. When you unpin, all the updates from across the share then happen.
Cloak just prevents some items from being retrieved when you perform a Get at a high level folder. For example, if you had the following layout:
$
|---Folder 1
------|---subfolder1
-------------|---files
-------------|---other subfolders
------|---subfolder2
-------------|---files
-------------|---other subfolders
------|---subfolder3
-------------|---files
------|---subfolder4
-------------|---files
|---Folder 2
Then you cloak subfolder 2. Then when you perform a Get from either Folder 1 or $, subfolder2 will not be retrieved. You can force a Get on subfolder2 by specifically selecting subfolder2 and performing a Get on it.
Here's a few KB articles that may help.
