Reinstalling Webserver
Hello,
I have Windows 2008 webserver and de database is locaties on a 2005 machine. Connection is done with windows authentication.
The webserver crashed and had to be reinstalled. After doing this it did not accept the license; we have 5.0 with corresponding license bought in january. After removing all licenses from the database, the login said it did not recognize the admin credentials (they were correct however). So I removed the sgmaster en reinstalled again to another instance of the sql server and copied the database to the production server. Again admin and password were not accepted. I tried everything on this forum:
- registry editing
- reinstalling without sgmaster (on both instances)
- all permission items
No result. It keeps saying the admin and password are invalid.
Needless to say, I'm desperate. How do i get the sgvault working again
Peter

Re: Reinstalling Webserver
Do you have good backups of the sgvault and sgmaster databaseses?
If so, uninstall Vault Server. Then restore the backups to the SQL Server machine.
Reinstall Vault Server, pointing it to the database location. Your licenses are stored in the database, so if you had a good backup, you should not need to re-enter the licenses after installing.
Let me know if this does not resolve the problem.
If not, I'd suggest we schedule a remote assist session where I can take a closer look. Email support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post and we can set up a time.
If you don't have a backup of your original sgmaster, then it will be more difficult to get things working.

OK. What types of errors are you getting? That might help us diagnose the problem.

Re: Reinstalling Webserver
What I do is
- install the webserver
- during install I click "Keep current DB" (or something like that)
- login screen I use admin and then password
After this i get: Login Failed: The username or password supplied is invalid.
We tried all our admin passwords without succes. To test whether we use the correct password I created on the same machine with the same db-instance new databases with the password we expected it to be. The hashcodes between the new and the old db were the same. So I can savely assume that the password is correct.
So the problem is: the applicatie says username and password are invalid, but as you can see they are not.
The http-string at that moment is:
- install the webserver
- during install I click "Keep current DB" (or something like that)
- login screen I use admin and then password
After this i get: Login Failed: The username or password supplied is invalid.

Re: Reinstalling Webserver
Hello Linda
I got it working again. The principal did not have execute, select etc. permissions. So now I get a little further. Sorry for your time.
Sincerely
Peter
