Are there any circumstances where a pinned folder's contents can be checked out? The "check out" menu item is enabled for pinned folders, but not for pinned files. When attempting to check out a pinned folder the check out fails. If a pinned folder can never be checked out, shouldn't the checkout menu item be disabled just as it is for checking out files?

A pin prevents an item from being modified, so a file or folder that is pinned cannot be checked out.

You're right that we shouldn't enable the checkout command if an item is pinned. Checkout is disabled for files that are pinned, but not folders or items in history.

We have bug 4442 already logged about checkout being available from the history. I've updated the bug to specifiy that pinned folders should also have checkout disabled.
