We have a few developement computers that use Vault.
We are iin the process of making some system changes and these computers will soon have their computer names in active directory changed.
Will this have any impact on files that are checked out with Vault? Does vault care, or use the computer name in any way, or just the username of the person who has the files checked out?
Thanks
Does renaming a computer affect Vault check-outs?

Re: Does renaming a computer affect Vault check-outs?
If you rename a client computer, I don't think the user will be able to check in files that were checked out under the old computer name. Location does make a difference. You could do one of the following to get around this:
1) Have the user check in their files prior to the computer rename.
2) Rename the computer, force an undo check out using the Vault admin web page, then have the user check out their files again. The undo check out from the admin web page will not affect changes on the user's computer. That user will want to make sure they don't overwrite when they perform the new check out.
3) The user could perform an Undo Check Out, but choose the option to leave the file as it is instead of allowing it to revert the changes. After the computer name change the user would check out the file again.
4) The user could shelve their changes then undo the check out. After the computer rename the user could pull down the shelved changes, during which the user will be prompted for a checkout.
