I'm pretty embarrassed to have to be asking this question so I'll give a bit of background. Just a few weeks ago I downloaded and installed Vault on a Vista machine. I have little experience with IIS and very little experience with SQL Server, but everything seemed to work fine after a bit of finagling. I stuck a play project in it that I worked on occasionally over the next few weeks. Then the Vista machine died on me. I decided to rebuild it as Windows 7 (which I also have very little experience with). So I've got Vault up and running on Win7, but now I'd like to see if I can bring that old database into the new system.
No, I never made a backup of it, at least nothing through SQL Server, but presumably the raw database is still sitting on the old drive or in a backup set somewhere. I've read that I'm looking for files named sgvault and sgmaster, but where are these files? I'm not finding them anywhere on the Win7 machine. I figure Win7 is just hiding them somewhere, but I'm out of ideas where to look. So, where's the default location of these database files?

Re: Where are the database files?
Your SQL Server configuration determines the location of the databases, rather than Vault. Usually the databases are in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL or a subdirectory, depending on your SQL Server version.
Did you do an upgrade of Vista, or a fresh install of Windows 7? Could the files have been overwritten?

Re: Where are the database files?
That was it, Linda. They were exactly where you said to look. My search wasn't finding it because of UAC. Once I knew which folder to look in I was able to just tell UAC to let me in and there they were, no problem. I think I'm good to go now. Thanks much.
