SOS 4.2 on Win 7 64 bit

Post by oskaratk » Fri Dec 11, 2009 4:51 pm

Hi,

I am trying to run SOS 4.2 on win 7/ 64bit.
Installed, imported encryption key successfully.
However, when connecting to the server I get a
"The client was unable to locate key file 'c:\users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Sourcegear\SOS\servername.key' "

Tried to run SOS as administrator, tried to change rights on that directory ... no luck

Any hints ( besides upgrading server to V5 , which is an an option in the moment )

We haven't tested SOS 4.2 on Windows 7, so it's possible encryption doesn't work. I'll try it here.

Meanwhile it could be an error not related to Windows 7. Are you connecting to the same machinename/IP as the encryption key was created with? For instance if the encryption key was created with "servername" for the server name, and you logged in with the IP address or "servername.yourcompany.com", the login wouldn't work.

Linda,

I was a little fast crying wolfe. Got it to work:

Removed the hidden attributes of the directories c:\users\ ...\SOS .. That helped.
Only other thin that I expericend, I had to make/undo "SOS default VSS provider several times till my client got the change.
