Snow Leopard & Vault 4.1.4 ;-(

Post by matt.newell » Tue Dec 08, 2009 3:41 pm

Server 4.1.4.18402
Client 4.1.4.18419 (Eclipse)

We upgraded to 4.1.4 sometime in October and everything seemed to go fine until I upgraded my laptop to 10.6.2 Snow Leopard. Now I get this error message. I have double checked and I can login threw the web but the client is not working.

The connection to the server failed: server cannot be contacted or uses a protocol that is not supported by this client.

Did you upgrade your command line client?

The error you received indicates that the client and the server are not the same version. You will need to get the Vault 4.1.4 command-line client.

The same error also shows up if you mix and match Vault and Fortress.

Can you pull up a web browser and go the the page http://<your Vault server>/vaultservice, take a screenshot and post it?

I'd like to have you try uninstalling what you have now and pull down the Eclipse plug-in again using this link: http://download-us.sourcegear.com/Vault ... _18419.zip. Do you get any different results?

That appears to have fixed the connection issue.

Now I have one issue left. Since I updated to 4.1.4 I can not switch between repositories. Previously in eclipse you could act as if you were going to share a new project and pick with repository you wanted to be in. Then you could check in and out the projects. Now I'm stuck in the one repository.

How can I combine two repositories?

Are you trying to have 2 projects in the same Eclipse workspace point to a different repository? Or are these two different workspaces?

Yes I have one workspace with 4 projects these projects are separated into 2 repositories but I can only load one. It also defaults to the first project and I can't change the repository. I would like combine the repositories so all project will show up.

You aren't supposed to be able to have projects in the same workspace in different repositories. You could disconnect one and then have the other connected in the same workspace, but both at the same time shouldn't work.

I understand I can't use two different repositories but I need to fix the problem. I can't see how to disconnect the project from the repository so I can then add it to the one working one.

You should be able to right-click the project, select Team and then Disconnect.
