Browse Fortress items... error

Post by richman32 » Wed Nov 18, 2009 5:23 pm

I have a user who encounters the following when selecting "Browse Fortress items.." from the "View" menu:

When I select the “Browse Fortress Items…” menu entry the browser doesn’t appear. A bit later this pops up:

SourceGear Vault Windows Client has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...

and the client fades and stops responding.

After another wait the dialog changes to:

SourceGear Vault Windows Client has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
A "Debug" and "Close program" button is provided.

Selecting “Debug” and going with the VS2005 CLR debugger gets me:

An unhandled exception of type 'System.TypeInitializationException' occurred in System.dll
Additional information: The type initializer for 'VaultClientUILib.VsTabStrip' threw and exception.

Exception Detail:
System.TypeInitializationException was unhandled
Message="The type initializer for 'VaultClientUILib.VsTabStrip' threw an exception."
Source="VaultClientUILib"
TypeName="VaultClientUILib.VsTabStrip"
StackTrace:
at VaultClientUILib.VsTabStrip.Dispose(Boolean disposing)
at System.ComponentModel.Component.Finalize()

The user is running Windows 7. Other users running Windows 7 are not experiencing this problem.

He has tried repairing the install and uninstalling/reinstalling.

Any help would be appreciated.

What version of Fortress are you using?

If the user logs in from a different machine, can he see the Fortress bugs? Can a different user login and see bugs from the user's machine?

Could you reproduce the problem then send me copies of the Vault Server log? It's called sgvault.log and is in %windir%\temp\sgvault on the server machine. I also would like to see the client log. It's called VaultGUIClient.txt and is in your user's temp directory (%temp%) on the client machine. Send the logs zipped up to support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.

The user was able to resolve the problem by doing a System Restore. His best guess is that the problem was created when he installed the "Andale Mono" font on his machine.
