HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error on Windows 7
Hello,
I installed Fortress 2.0 on a Win 7 Ultimate version and it throws me an error when I navigate to the vaultservice/admin page.
Error summary :
HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.
Detailed Error Info :
Module IIS Web Core
Notification BeginRequest
Handler Not yet determined
Error Code 0x80070003
Config Error Cannot read configuration file
Config File \\?\D:\Sourcegear Fortress Server\VaultService\web.config
Requested URL http://matrix:80/vaultservice/admin
Physical Path D:\Sourcegear Fortress Server\VaultService\admin
Logon Method Not yet determined
Logon User Not yet determined

Could someone help me out here by guiding me to where I could be going wrong. My only other experience with fortress was about a few weeks of playing with it last year, but back then it had installed just great on a Win XP Pro machine.
Thanks in anticipation!

What do you get if you open the following in a browser?
http://matrix:80/vaultservice
What if you use the following URL right on the Vault server?
http://localhost/vaultservice

Re: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error on Windows 7
Hello and thank you for your reply.
I have the server and client installed on the same machine (my laptop). I had done the same earlier with Win XP Pro and it all worked fine. But Win 7 is giving me this problem.
As for your question, navigation to http://matrix:80/vaultservice on my browser I get the same error page as in my original post.
May I ask how would I run the 2nd url on my vault server?
Thanks again,
-filya

I'm not sure I understand your question. You should just be able to copy the URLs I gave right into a web browser and press enter. There shouldn't be any actual browsing or searching for a file.

Re: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error on Windows 7
In your IIS Manager, take a look at the website you installed Fortress to. What path is set for the website? By default, it would be C:\inetpub\wwwroot, but it's possible to change it.
When you were installing Fortress, did you choose a typical or custom install? If you chose custom, then what did you enter for a path for Fortress?
Next, what did you select for your IIS process model? (Machine, System, or Custom)

Hello Beth,
Thank you for your patience with me
I did not remember the custom settings I used while installation, so just to answer these questions of yours, I reinstalled everything using default settings. And now it all works.
May be I messed up in my custom settings.
Thanks again,
