Hi, I'm using Backup Exec to do SQL backups and I need to do a SQL backup/restore for my machine to be validated.
Is there a preferred method to do automated inplace SQL backups/restores? I was backing up the sgvault and sgmaster databases and just restoring them in place and it didn't appear to work.
Afterwards if I would try to recreate a folder that had previously been in the repository I would get a FailDBFault error. This appears very similar to this topic http://support2.sourcegear.com/viewtopi ... =5&t=11613 but I don't understand what mirroring would have to do with it exactly.
I noticed a thread from the 3.X days saying to reinstall Vault and point to the databases but this would be my least favorite approach in this situation.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Patrick
Preffered inplace backup/restore method?

Re: Preffered inplace backup/restore method?
There isn't a "preferred" backup/restore method. The one I know though is just using the SQL Server Management Studio. You can also use the backup/restore with the Vault admin web page, but that just runs the same backup/restore as the SQL Server Management Studio. It's not a separate utility.
How old are the backups that you are restoring? If you just backed up and then restored 5 minutes later, there should be no differences.
