Keyword Expansion on UNICODE/Crystal Reports

Post by flyswacker » Thu Sep 24, 2009 3:36 pm

Crystal seems to save plain text as UNICODE, how to i implement keyword expansion, in an .RPT file from crystal?

We are using Vault 4.1.4

The keyword expansion is only going to work in files that have text only. A Crystal Reports file has much more than just text involved.

If you want to give something a try, you can add the .rpt to the file types that keywords will expand on (in the Vault admin web page under the repository settings), and then add .rpt as a mergeable file type. Then reopen your Vault client. I would not recommend trying this on live reports. I tried a few tests just using notepad, a report I downloaded from the internet, and Crystal Reports viewer and I corrupted the file every time to where it was no longer usable. You could try making a dummy report and adding the keyword and see what your results are. I don't think it will work, but with the two settings I mentioned, you can at the very least give it a try. If it succeeds, then let me know.
