Export works fine; import not so well
I have exported a particular folder tree from a repository and am trying to import it into another repository. But each time I try to import, I get a different error message. The last one was this:
Import Error
---------------------------
An exception occreed while importing a transaction for (TxID: 17660 on 5/12/2008 1:56 PM by username [2]) . Encountered exception: An exception occurred processing a transaction.Exported Info by username - 17660 on 5/12/2008 1:56:20 PM
Change Set Items (Rename) $/BRANCHES/Project_v1.1
Imported Change Set - 17660 on 5/12/2008 1:56:20 PM
Change Set Items [Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] The import cannot continue.
---------------------------
What do I need to do to figure out what's going wrong and how to fix the issue?
Other info:
I have not locked down either repo. The destination repo is only being used by the import at the time, but folders outside of the source folder in the source repo might have been in flux at the time of export.

Which version of Vault are you on? Can you go to Help - Technical Support in your Vault GUI client and copy the client and server environment information from there and post it? You don't need to post any of the licensing portion.

Re: Export works fine; import not so well
Are you importing to the same repository or a brand new repository? Are comments or bug logging required on that repository?
If you're not using a blank repository, can you make a dummy test repository and try importing to that and let me know what it does?

Re: Export works fine; import not so well
I am importing to a new, somewhat blank (I have a general folder layout defined but no files).
Bugs are not required, but comments are.
I did search through the history of the source repo, and there are a few obliterate actions. Is that the cause? Is there a way around it?

Re: Export works fine; import not so well
Obliterate would very well be causing the issue. You might try not requiring comments during the import to see if that makes a different. You can turn it back on after the import.
If not requiring comments makes no difference, we can try to take a closer look. Just send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread.

Thanks Beth. I'll give that a try and report back.
