I have a repository set aside specifically for archiving code that is not being used. I export the code from my primary repository and then import to the archive repository before deleting from the primary. This has worked fairly well for a few projects, but I've recently tried a couple and received an error:
"An error occurred while importing a label(Label: Released in PROD - 01/29/2009 LabelDate: 01/29/2009 9:47 AM Path: $/AgressoDev/LPAYPROC (I)) . Encountered exception: An exception occurred during an import label. Label Released in PROD - 01/29/2009 on 01/29/2009 9:47:47 AM by areed The import cannot continue."
My first thought is that it has something to do with the content of the label, with the dash or the slashes in the date. I am able to edit the rename the label, but the same content is in the comment, which I apparently cannot edit. I checked all the Vault logs I could think of and there isn't any more information available.
Here are my questions:
1) Can you confirm that it has something to do with the content of the label?
2) As an administrator, how can I edit label comments?
Thanks,
Josh Schmidt

You can view the label's contents by performing a show labels on the folder it was applied at or its parent folder. Right-click the label and select View. From the window that opens, you can see what was included in the label. If you wish to change the contents, then instead of selecting View to see the label, you can select Promotion. When in the label promotion window, you can change file versions or add and remove files.
If you are in the Show Labels function, then you can select a label, the click on the file menu item of Action and select Edit Comment to change the label comment.
Is anything that is in that label found in a part of the repository that was deleted?
Do you use obliterate?

Re: Folder Export Import - Error on Import
When I go to Action - Edit Comment it pops up a window showing the comment, but it appears to be read-only.
Nothing under that label was deleted. We do occasionally use obliterate and are still working on how we will be using it with our code archiving procedures, but we have not done so on any parts of this folder.

Re: Folder Export Import - Error on Import
Are you selecting the label at the point it was applied and not a parent folder or sub-folder?
Obliterate and Export/Import are not compatible. It doesn't matter if you obliterate on a different folder or not. If obliterate happens in the same repository, you will have a good chance of the Export/Import failing.
If you are selecting the label at the right point, then it might be better if I could take a closer look rather than having you post screenshots. Could you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread?
