I am working with SOS between offices with a VPN over the internet. We run between 125 to 220 ms between the offices. When we request the tree it only pulls folders no files. Also it takes for ever.
In comparison the full tree is only 2.5 gig. I can move a 5 gig file in less than 40 minutes over the same link.
Any Ideas would be help full.
Tree Retrieval only folder structure no files

When the SOS client connects to the the SOS Server, the SOS Server communicates through the SourceSafe automation component to access the VSS database. Getting the files through the Automation Component is much slower than moving files through a normal network transfer.
Which client are you using -- GUI, CLC or IDE?
Is only one person doing the get or multiple users at the same time?
Are you doing a recursive Get from root (all 2.5 GB)? Does it ever complete after a long period of time?
Can you retrieve single subfolders with their files -- that is, can you successfully do smaller gets?
Does the SOS Server machine have real-time anti-virus checking? This can greatly impact SOS performance. Does the SOS Server machine have adequate resources for SOS?
Is there a firewall or other device between SOS Client and Server that might be closing the connection after a certain period of time or after a certain amount of data has passed?
Are there any error messages in the SOS Server log.txt file (located in the SOS Server directory)?
