SOS VS 2008 Vista 64 Ultimate - how to integrate IDE?

Post by MarkJM » Tue Jan 27, 2009 9:03 pm

I have been using VSS over a VPN and thought to try SOS on a 30 day evaluation.
My client environment is:
Vista Ultimate 64
SourceOffSite classic 4.1.2 (no cryptography)
Visual Studio 2008 SP1

On my Sos client, i have [x] Make SourceOffSite your default SCC provider checked.
I unbound a small solution in VS 2008 which had been bound to VSS.
I do not see SourceOffSite scc provider in VS 2008 Tool/Options/Source Control.

Can someone suggest to me how i go about integrating Sos with VS 2008 ?

We haven't tested SOS on with VS 2008 on Vista 64-bit, so it's not officially supported. But you might be able to make some registry changes that would show SOS as a provider in VS 2008. Email support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda with a reference to this post, and I'll send you the info.

Thank you. I sent email to support@... as requested. I am curious as to the level of IDE integration that is supported. Are there versions of Windows and Visual studio that are officially supported? If so, please tell me which ones.

SOS 4.2 is fully supported on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003. We support IDE integration with Visual Basic 6, VC++, VS 2003 and VS 2005.

Full support means we have thoroughly tested the product and optimized it for use with the supported environments. We can provide help if there are problems or fix bugs.

In some cases, SOS will function in an unsupported environment, or it may involve work-arounds. Since we haven't tested the product in an unsupported OS or IDE, our ability to provide technical support may be limited.

Full support for SOS on Vista 32 and 64-bit and for VS 2008 will come with SOS 5.0, due to be released later this year. If you are interested in being a Beta tester, contact support at sourcegear.com ATTN: Linda
