Working with DreamWeaver

Post by Gerald » Sun May 23, 2004 10:51 pm

Hello,

I have read the threads about the lack of integration with DreamWeaver, so my question is how people are using it with DreamWeaver?

I am sure we have some using them together, so it there any suggestions or best practices to working with both?

Thanks!
Gerald

I'm not a Dreamweaver expert, but I've used Dreamweaver with source code control and no integration. Using the Vault GUI client, add your site files to Vault so that your folder tree matches your site tree. Your working directory can be your Dreamweaver local Root folder.

With the GUI client, check out the files you want to modify. Open Dreamweaver and edit your files. Save them. Check them back in with the Vault GUI Client.

You should still be able to use Put and Get with your test or live site. Note that a Get may cause your local copy to be Renegade if the file has a different timestamp from the file in your working directory. In that case, you can use the Vault Client to check out the file with the "don't overwrite" option.

This is pretty basic, so perhaps other Dreamweaver users can add their suggestions.
