I'm currently evaluating Vault, and I've noticed a few annoyances that have started to compound. These seem like very minor issues, but sadly, each time I come across them I get a tiny bit more frustrated with the software. Both of these are related to the Vault Client.
1. Keyboard focus changes when coming back from a diff
- If I have the focus in the upper file list and bring up the diff window, and then I close the diff window, the focus is now elsewhere - it looks like it's on the tabs at the bottom??? This becomes a major frustration when I'm trying to use the keyboard to navigate to a file, diff, navigate, diff, etc.
2. No keyboard shortcut to perform a diff on a file in the Pending Change Set
- If I've got my focus in the Pending Change Set and hit Ctrl+F, it brings up the diff window on whatever happens to be selected in the file list up above. This is not at all what I want or expect. I expected the diff command to affect the file I've selected in the window that has focus.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: Keyboard focus annoyances in Vault Client
You mentioned you are using the keyboard shortcut. I tried both with the keyboard shortcut and with the menus. It appears that what you are seeing only occurs with the keyboard shortcut. You can perform a diff from the pending changes if you right-click the item and select Show Differences. Also, if you right click at item at the top, and perform a diff, then after you close it, the focus remains the same.
I will log a bug against the keyboard shortcut though. Thanks for the report.

Beth, you should already have these logged.

Matt, I do find these items annoying, but even with this Vault is still so much better than the other products we've looked at. Don't let these two things disuade you from using Vault.

Thanks for the additional information. I'll search for those and add a vote. Some of those are just a little different, but I can see how they are related.

Re: Keyboard focus annoyances in Vault Client
Thanks to both of you for your responses. This is certainly not a make-or-break issue, just something that's proven more annoying than I would have expected.
Clearly, a much bigger issue for us is the ability to import from VSS, and that's the reason Vault is on our short list.

Matt: If you are having any problems importing, then definitely send an email to support at sourcegear.com describing the issue. That way I can help you along with that.
