Problem with Vault and VS2008 on Vista

Post by gcollinson » Mon Jun 16, 2008 3:21 am

When trying to load a project under Vault from VS2008 in Windows Vista I'm getting and error telling me that Intellisense has stopped working. Visual Studio then exits and restarts. This error occurs as soon as the login form for Vault appears. If I run Visual Studio as an administrator the problem is not present. As I've run Visual Studio with Vault on Vista without administrator privileges on another machine I'm wondering why I'm now getting this problem. The machine is a clean install with all updates applied including Vista SP1. Vault client is version 4.1.1.18060, though I have also tried with version 4.1.2.18185 (I've regressed because the server software hasn't been updated yet).

I'm sorry you're having this problem. This is a known issue that we're working with Microsoft to resolve. The 4.1.2 client will make the error less common, but not eliminate it entirely. We are hopeful that Visual Studio 2008 SP1 will include a fix to eliminate it completely.

Thnks for the prompt reply, looks like I'll have to be patient and wait for the one or the other :)

You could try Visual Studio 2008 SP1 beta if you like:

It was released last month, but it IS beta software...
