Object reference error during Import
Moderator: SourceGear
Hi Jeff,
Sorry if my 10/31 reply wasn't clear, but yeah, we're still mystified by the CheckSum error problem during the VSS imports.
Item A) We're not importing across a network--the VSS dbs that we archive from are restored into a new separate VSS db that's also on the vault server, Analyze.exe'd, and then imported into Vault. We can try "localhost" for the next run, but given that we've had sucessful import runs with the server set to ENGVAULT (our Vault server name) I'm not sure it's that.
Item B) I deleted the client cache that was on the server, and reattempted both the VSS import (received the CheckSum errors previously described midway through the import) and the Vault Folder Export (received the same Object reference error at the same point as previously described).
Item C) I've been given the go-ahead to give you guys any files you'd need. We're working on shrinking our Vault database down to a manageable size--I should have that later this afternoon. I can also send a VSS archive you could use to try to reporduce the CheckSum errors problem, and the Object reference error with the Import/Export tool should be reproduceable with the vfe file I sent last week.
Assuming Item C is the route we're going, how will we get you these files--via secure FTP or would we need mail them on DVD?
Thanks so much,

You can upload a file by anonymous FTP to ftp.sourcegear.com. Place the file in the /incoming/ directory as you will have rights to place the file there, but not read. You can also zip / password protect any files.
Otherwise you can send files on DVD or CD.
Let me know how you would want to proceed.

See me previous note - ftp://ftp.sourcegear.com if you list the director of /, you will see an incoming/ directory. Note, some browsers will not show the directory, only an FTP client.
[edit]For browsers - just add the /incoming[/edit]
[edit]For best results, use a standard FTP client.[/edit]

Corrupt?! <PORN SPAM> Re-transmission is underway. Zip file was created with WinZip 10--do you guys have access to that version? Could it be a fake corruption message? I've seen older versions throw errors with the word "unsupported" in them when trying to extract newer zips.
Is there a version of Winzip you'd prefer I use (assuming my I.S. guys can locate a copy)
Thanks,

I don't think it had anything to do with the file itself, but rather with one of the destination drives. This has been cleaned up, so new uploads should be fine - including the one you started just a while ago.jdavidi wrote:Corrupt?! <PORN SPAM> Re-transmission is underway.
