I think you may be selecting the "folder" right before going to the change set.

For example, I've added file3, file4, and file5 to Folder A.

Now, I individually click on file4. Then immediately go to the change set, and CTRL + click all 5 files. Clicking the "Checkin" toolbar item from above, only gives me a dialog with file4.

However, if I individually click on file4. Next reselect Folder A. Afterwards, I CTRL + click all 5 files in the changeset, and then the "Checkin" toolbar button. Now, all 4 modified files in Folder A ( file1, file3, file4, and file5) are in the commit dialog.

I believe the "last selected item" determines the checkin dialogs behavior. If a folder is was last to have focus, invoking Checkin gives a commit dialog with changed items in the folder. If a file was last to have focus, invoking Checkin provides a commit dialog with only those selected file items.

You're right. I'm now having trouble reproducing the "exact" behavior -- in any event, the behavior is flaky. The checkin button should apply to the last thing I had focus on. If I selected a folder from the left frame, than all files checked out from that folder should appear. If I selected a file from the right frame, then on the files selected from the right frame should appear. If I select one or two files from the bottom/change set frame, then only those files should appear. What was selected before selecting files from the bottom/change set frame should not matter, but it does, apparently.

It's a bit annoying at times, but shortcut keys and toolbar buttons don't apply to the changeset/search panes, only the folder/file view. I've asked for this to be changed before.

As you mentioned in a previous posting, the operation "Checkin" wouldn't make sense if it applied to an Add item ( or delete for that matter ). Concordingly, the Checkin operation only applies to modifiied items from the last selected file / folder selection. These inconsistencies have kept the Checkin command from working against any change set items.
