Wrong checked-out status

Hi,

We are using 2.06. We have experienced several times the following issue but we don't know how to reproduce it:

The file is marked as checked-out by user X. But X himself (using client 2.06) cannot check the file in. The error msg returned is "The file is exclusively locked".

BTW, user X told me that he thinks he had already checked in the file. There is no reason for it to remain checked out.

Can you help to show us what we did wrong?

Most likely, user X checked the file out from a different machine. Vault 2.0 only allows undo checkout from the same machine where the checkout happened. You can use the Vault Admin tool to undo the checkout on the file from any machine. Vault 3.0 has fixed this bug, allowing a user to undo their checkouts from any machine.
