SOS Server to connect to 2nd VSS Database

Post by aruneeshsalhotra » Mon Dec 13, 2004 12:50 pm

Hi,
I have configured the SOS Server to have 2 VSS Databases srcsafe.ini files.

Initially it had one.

But, I when I connect using SOS Client, using the server name and the port number, I still see only one srcsafe.ini entry in the drop down list, when it prompts for user name and passord.

Regards
Aruneesh

It's possible that the account used by the SOS Server service does not have access to the new database. Check the log.txt file in the SOS Server directory. It may show an error message such as "invalid database."

See this KB article for information on configuring the SOS Server service account:

This is the information at the end of the log.txt file.

12/15/2004 3:09:29 PM - Number of licenses configured: 10
12/15/2004 3:09:29 PM - \\\\alaska2\\ips_vss\\srcsafe.ini does not exist!
12/15/2004 3:09:29 PM - SourceSafe Initialization file(s) located at:
12/15/2004 3:09:29 PM - E:\tech_vss\srcsafe.ini

I need to have the \\alaska2\ips_vss DB working through SOS.

It looks like the account used by the SOS Server service does not have access to the location of the database. See this KB article for more information:
