Dependencies PITA

Post by Mike Chean » Fri Dec 10, 2004 3:47 pm

I am trying to install Vault 2.04 on a new Windows 2003 machine. The machine in question already has IIS running, but didn't have .Net. I proceeded to install Vault anyway, forgetting the .Net dependency. The install failed the first time with a Asp.net problem, and then installed when i tried it again, but could not connect. So I uninstalled Vault, read the dependencies, and installed .Net SDK. Still no good connecting, though the web page comes up. I then noticed that the ASPNET user was not added. Does this need to be done manually?
In any case I uninstalled .Net got the redistributable version, and then tried to install it. But even after successfully uninstalling it tells me that the .Net is still there. Any Suggestions on how to get it off?

The recommended installation order is

Server 2003
IIS
SQL Server
.Net Framework
Vault Server

At the moment, it sounds like uninstalling the Vault server and reinstalling it will get you set up.
