We are planning on migrating our SQL Server database from 2008R2 to 2019. I know 2019 can maintain compatibility with 2008R2 but that is basically kicking the can down the road until a future version comes out that no longer supports that compatibility, so I have two questions:
1. What do you recommend to best support upgrading the database for future compatibility?
2. Are there any plans to support alternate databases in the future, such as PostgreSQL?
Thanks!

Re: SQL Server Upgrade 2008R2 to 2019
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out in regards to your concerns. We typically recommend upgrading to the latest versions but if that's not possible, SQL Server 2019 is supported on Vault 10.x. As of right now, we have no plans of supporting different database alternatives.
Thanks,
Tonya

Re: SQL Server Upgrade 2008R2 to 2019
Thank you for that but apparently I did not make my primary concern clear.
We are on Vault 10 already but when we upgrade from SQL Server 2008R2 to 2019, will there be any issues if I do not put the database in compatibility mode?
I presume from your previous response that there will not be but I want to be certain.
Thanks!

Hello again,
We are not aware of any negative effects to the Vault application that would be caused by changing the compatibility mode of the sgmaster and sgvault databases, but there could be some SQL related item that makes a difference.

Re: SQL Server Upgrade 2008R2 to 2019
One more question, I find that SQL Server 2019 can be installed and run on Linux. Can Vault Standard 10 successfully connect to and run using the Linux version of SQL Server?
Re: SQL Server Upgrade 2008R2 to 2019
No, the Vault Server Database requires a Microsoft SQL Server.
Thanks,
