Best way to migrate Vault repositories to another install?

Post by MrKurt » Tue Nov 16, 2004 1:25 pm

I'm seperating my personal projects out from a corporate install of Vault I've been using. The single user version is just fine for me, but I need to figure out the best way to migrate a couple of repositories from the starter pack install (running version 2.05) to my own personal install. Is there a best practice for this?

No, not yet. There is a growing list of users who have been requesting a way to migrate items in / out of a repository and possibly into other repositories. I've added your name to that list.

Currently, the only thing you could really do right now is get the files to disk (in a non-working folder) , and then add them to the other repository.

I went ahead and just backed up the entire database, restored it to my server, then installed Vault. It asked if I wanted to use the existing DB, and I said "Yes". It all seems to have worked, but it appears to think the new install is also a starter pack (5 available user licenses). There are three "users" setup from the old install.

It is safe to just remove that license from the new install, or will it cause problems since there are already users in the system?

Kurt:

You should be able to safely remove the license from within the Admin Tool.
