Connection Closed

The connection to our source offsite server gets closed if you don't use it even after only a few minutes. Then when you try to check something out it takes a while for source offsite to figure out that the connection is closed and then prompt you to reconnect. is there any way to keep the connection open.

The SOS Server doesn't close connections, but there may be a firewall closing connections after a period of time.

You can try using the keep-alive option in the SOS Client under Tools->Options->General.
