Compatiblity Questions between 3.5.3 and 4.0

I've got a tricky situation. I am an indepentant developer with 2 clients. I have been using SOS 3.5.3 for one client for a couple years now. I have another client with 2 other developers; we want to use SOS 4.0 with this client. If we purchase 2 client licenses for SOS 4.0 and install the server, will my 3.5.3 client be able to connect to both the 3.5.3 server at the first client's site and the 4.0 server at the second client's site? If I upgrade my client to 4.0, will I be able to connect to both?

You could install both 3.x and 4.x clients on the same machine.

Although SOS 3.x clients can connect to SOS 4.0 servers and vice versa, there are some operations that don't work correctly. We recommend using the same versions of SOS Client and SOS Server.
