History since label point

Post by RichardHauer » Thu Nov 11, 2004 12:01 am

Not sure if this is the right forum, buut I'll ask anyway and feel free to redirect me if necessary (I am trialling Vault as a replacement for VSS).

What i need to do is selecct a folder (aka project) and find all actions (check-in, label, etc) since a certain label. This is trivial in VSS since you can enter either a date or label into the search dialog, but in Vault I can't see quite how to do it.

Also, I can't see any way of entering a time along with the date - so I can say 11/11/04 but not 11/11/04 13:00.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If you just wanted to use History Explorer, you could select the folder, right click and Show Labels. Note the date of the appropriate label.

Then do "Show History" and select "View Folder History by Item," plus "Recursive" if applicable. You can select a date in the Dates tab that includes the time period of the label and after. (Sorry, currently you can only select days, not specific times for the query.)

The history query will show each action on the folder since the label. You can save the results as an .html, .csv, or .txt file.

You probably could do this from the Command Line Client as well:

Thanks for your reply - this is probably not the ideal solution though, I'm sure you'll agree.

Even the old VSS client allows this - and I'm sure it won't be all that difficult to engineer in to the v3 product. Maybe a worthy enhancement.

Personally, I use this functionality to ensure all changes to the system have been documented between releases and to compile developer release notes.
