[Solved] Long file names (again, sorry!)

Post by mbainbridge » Wed Apr 15, 2020 2:40 am

I have a weird error.

Somehow, someone has checked in a file with a folder and path that read like an essay. The path length that is way more than Vault can handle, and this has stopped the shadow folders working. I've renamed the folder so that the path length is now 265 characters. However, when I try to rename the file to shorten it, I get the error:
The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.
Whatever I do, I can't rename the file, even if I shorten it to 1 character, I get this error.

Update: I renamed the folder to 1 character, then I could shorten the filename.
