WTH?

Post by Mordachai » Thu Jul 20, 2017 12:57 pm

VS 2015 / Vault enhanced client is again doing bizarre and extremely unpleasant things.

I just went to edit a file - and ended up editing:

C:\Users\steve\Vault\Cimex CAD-CAM\17.0\Cimex Application\enc_temp_folder\1b913dc0189cd788f749d868e942a18\Macro Parse Strings.cpp

???? What the hell is that?

Is Vault responsible for this muck up? Or is VisualAssist the culprit here? Or VS2015?

I just wanted to edit a function - and ended up with this bizarre file. Where does that come from? Is this a Vault thing?

If not vault, then my apologies, and I'll go bug someone else...
But if this is a vault thing - then how do I clear whatever goof is going on -

I am unaware of any reason that I should end up with a enc_temp_folder under my project folder!

I think enc_temp_folder is a Visual Studio auto save auto recovery folder.

Is the file you edited in your working folder not being edited?

Hi Beth,

I have no idea what happened - I must have had that file on screen when VS crashed the day before? Something like that.

I close that file, I opened the correct file, made my changes, and when I went to investigate that folder was gone.

So - I like your idea that it was an auto-recovery file.

Since it all went away - I'll just file under "bizarre glitches" and move on. :D
