Upgrade Check List

Things to check prior to upgrading Vault.

• Do you have administrator-level rights to the server where you will install Vault?
• Do you have your documentation filled out so that you know which options to choose? See Documenting your Vault Installation.
• Can you login to SQL Server Management Studio for the SQL Server that is being used? Check to see if you need to use SQL authentication or Windows authentication. If SQL authentication, then you need to login to a SQL sysadmin account, such as sa. If you are using Windows authentication, then the Windows user you will be logged in as during the install needs to have admin rights to the SQL databases.
• Do you have license keys for the version to which you are upgrading? You can't roll back an upgrade, therefore it's important to make sure you have license keys purchased.
• Do you know the Vault admin password?
• Have you verified that your server OS, SQL Server, and Visual Studio versions are compatible with the version of Vault to which you are upgrading? See the Compatibility Chart.
• Have you performed a backup of your databases? If you are using Vault Standard you need to backup sgvault, sgmaster, sgvaultindex, and sgnotify. If you are using Vault Professional, you will backup the same databases as Vault Standard plus the sgdragnet database.
