Get Finder Items not working

Post by VanniMattia » Mon Dec 19, 2016 12:56 pm

Hello... I have the latest version of DiffMerge (4.2.1), and it's not working with the latest Sierra (10.12.2) update. Example: When you try to select a file in DiffMerge's file selector screen, if you have to drill down into a folder first, you are out of luck. It will no longer allow you to drill down into a folder.
Ideas? Thanks.

We tested here and didn't have an issue.

Is the location a non-local path or a mapped drive?

How deep do you need to drill? How many characters do you have in the path?

Good question. Alas, it's not that simple.
The issue was happening sporadically, and now it just happens every time.
It's not on a non-local path or mapped drive. I'm looking in a subdirectory of HOME.
I'm surprised if nobody else is having this issue. This is a brand-new machine.
The error that comes up (when Apple says -- "do you want to send this report to Apple?") is saying something like "bad location".
I can "trick" DiffMerge into working, if I choose the same file for comparison, and then do the drill-down to look for the real file.
To answer your question -- drill-down is 6 levels deep, and there would be 113 characters in the file name/path.

Do you have any leading or trailing spaces?

What happens if you place the files you wish to Diff into a different location on the hard drive that has no spaces in the path?

Can you recreate the scenario and then attach a part of the system log from about a minute before you star through when you receive the error? You'll be able to remove the attachment when we're done troubleshooting.
