no such file or project $/project/sub project/file.cls

When right clicking a file and selecting properties we get an error in the feedback pane stating

"retrieving properties of file $/project/sub project/file.cls"
"no such file or project $/project/sub project/file.cls"

Now the file is there, and you can right click it and view or edit it. You can check it out and check it in. The labels we put in at a particular version are there. You can go to Source Safe directly and select properties and see the version number and get no error, so it is not a Source safe problem. The file is there as well and properties tab does work in SourceSafe. It is not a permissions problem.

This only happens to some files. It seems to be a problem with shared files. I have restarted SOS server. Still a problem. Any idea? Ever heard of this? Will the server upgrade fix this? The client upgrade did not fix it.

This is a known issue in SOS 3.5.x.

Properties doesn't work on shared files after deleting a project where the shared files existed.

For example: In project A you have shared files TEST1, TEST2 and TEST3. If you delete project A (don't destory) and then select a another project that contains any of these shared files and try to view their properties an error message appears in the status window "No such file or project: $/PROJECTNAME" and the file list becomes blank. If you refresh the file list, the files appear again.

This has been fixed in SOS 4.0.
