unable to connect with DHCP clients

Post by gugliah » Fri Oct 22, 2004 6:23 am

Hi,
we have Linux systems using DHCP and not having any DNS entries, when these systems try to connect
to SOS, it fails, and we get following errors in the server log:

...
21.10.2004 13:23:27 - Connection accepted from 10.10.200.19:33110 on local address 10.10.1.6:8080, session id is 6.
21.10.2004 13:23:31 - 6: Unable to get hostname from address: 10.10.200.19
...

Any ideas ?

This is a very common error message and just means SOS can't resolve the name from the IP address. It doesn't not necessarily mean connection errors.

Have these machines ever been able to connect? Can Windows clients connect?
