Branching

Post by btd » Mon Nov 23, 2015 5:54 am

We have a project that we'd like to branch off and then merge back to the trunk. This way we support production and new stuff until the new stuff goes live.

What's the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks

A user will select the parent folder that holds items to go into the branch, right-click and select Branch. Give it a new name. I also recommend commenting on your branch to make it easier to identify later.

If users are using Visual Studio integrated with Vault, then they will need to either rebind to the new location, or perform a fresh Open from Vault.

After changes have been made, you will use the Merge Branches wizard found under Tools to merge your changes back.
