Vault hangs on login

Post by mikesax » Thu Oct 21, 2004 11:12 am

On a single system, both the Vault client and the Vault admin application hang when logging in. Other systems can access the vault server without a problem. The system also hangs when trying to access sourcegear's vaultpub server, and it even hangs if I type in "qweqrerewrewrewrewrewr"as the server name.

Login onto http://servernamegoeshere/VaultService...

After the first few seconds, processor seems none or minimal for the process and memory usage remains the same.

The system has Norton Systemworks 2005 installed, and all "protection" and firewall have been disabled but it still has the same results. When it hangs, the little window showing the message seems to be repainted fairly well, so it just seems to be waiting for something that doesn't happen.

All other http or internet apps seem to work well on this system. (Windows XP, SP2, firewall disabled, Norton worm protection disabled. Because Norton requires activation I'm hesitant to completely uninstall Norton to see if it makes a difference. Since I've already disabled everything, I don't think this is the cause.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Follow up on hang when logging in

After a long time (about an hour), the following message is shown:

Unable to connect to https://servernamegoeshere/VaultService. No server was found at the specified URL. Please verify your network settings using the Options dialog under the Tools menu in the Vault GUI client. Web Exception: The operation has timed-out.

Both client and server are running 2.0.6.

I uninstalled all Vault setups and removed SourceGear-specific registry entries for both the system and the user registry hives, then reinstalled and the problem remains.

If other clients can connect, but not yours, it's most likely a network issue or something specific to your machine's configuration
