Admin web client won't open in any browser

Post by therand » Fri Feb 06, 2015 12:33 pm

I installed Vault Pro 8 64 bit on a Windows 2008R2 SP1 64bit server. Everything was OK with the install, no issues. After the install it tried to open the Admin web client in IE and the IE screen was blank, no errors. I then installed Firefox and Chrome and tried to open the web client and the same thing. The browsers just come up empty. I've got Java 8u31 JRE installed. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Yes, hopefully it will upload. It's basically an empty browser page.
I changed the actual machine's name for this post.

Are you able to reach the page http://machinename/vaultservice/index.html?

Yes, I can hit that page. I'm getting "The following operations are supported. For..." at the top and many different links such as "AddHistoryFavorite", "AddLabel" etc...with a description of each.

Check the IIS logs on the Vault server. They are normally in C:\inetpub\logs. In there you should see some result codes that look like 200 0 0 or 404 13 0 and so on. Try going to the admin page again, and then check the log files for your error code. What do you see?

If you can, post a few lines of the log before you tried reaching the admin page onward.

Are you opening the browser right on the server or from a different machine?

What happens if you try using localhost instead of the machine name?

Do you have the 4.5 .NET framework installed?

Try re-registering your .NET framework with the command:

Code: Select all

C:\Windows\Microsoft.net\framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis -i
Then try again.

-Yes, I'm opening it in a browser on the server.
-When trying localhost instead of machinename, I get 'HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found.'. I opened the hosts file in Windows\System32\drivers\etc and the 127.0.0.1 localhost is commented out. Remark says the localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself. I tried to add it but I don't have the privs.
-I re-registered .Net Framework v4x using your command. It ran fine with no errors. I tried the admin client again and same thing...empty browser screen.

Could it possibly be a DNS thing? I pinged the machinename and it returns the correct IP.

Could you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread? I think I need to take a closer look.
