Issue with new 'Find' function

Post by piedmont » Fri Nov 08, 2013 10:39 am

Hi,

I think there's an unplanned side-effect from moving the Find (and 'Go To Line') controls onto the file window

As far as i can tell, you now can't leave the 'find' functionality using only the keyboard. Previous versions supported two mouse-free search scripts:

Ctrl + F
[type search term]
Enter

then either (1):
Alt+N/P to go to next/previous
Escape to exit finally

or (2):
Escape to return to file window
F3 / Shift + F3 to go to next/previous

I used this all the time, any chance of reinstating it...?

I double checked on the latest release and F3 and Shift-F3 are still working for me.

What OS are you using? I was using Windows 7 for my test.

Hi Beth

I agree F3/Shift-F3 still work

My issue is that you can't use Escape to exit the search functionality, which you could do on previous versions. This allowed you, without using the mouse, to:

* Hide/close the search bar when you're done; or
* Resume using Alt + Up/Down to continue reviewing differences

OS: Windows 8

Kind regards
Piedmont

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah there's a few rough spots there.
I'll log this for the next release.

Yeah, we should have ESC close the find window.

And I think the problem with the Alt+Up/Down
not working and an ENTER in the find window
is that focus is still up there rather than in one
of the file panels.

thanks
jeff
