We are evaluating upgrading from version 5 to version 6. How can we go about testing with the new version 6 client? We still need to be able to use the version 5 client for ongoing development work.
I haven't seen an updated post on this topic. Just some very old posts.

Re: Multiple Client Versions
To use the Vault 6 client, the Vault server would need to be upgraded to Vault 6 as well.
You would not be able to connect to Vault 6 Server with Vault 5 clients.
Vault 5 clients can only connect to Vault 5 servers, and Vault 6 clients can only connect to Vault 6 servers.
The best way to try Vault 6 functionality would be to install Vault 6 on a test machine or a virtual machine, installing with copy of your existing database.
You would also need Vault 6.x licenses. If you don't have Vault 6.x licenses, we can send you a 30-day demo license.

Re: Multiple Client Versions
We already have licenses for Vault 6.x and have upgraded our server on another machine and database server. But, if we can't install both client versions, then we'll have to create a new developer machine as well, which I was hoping to avoid.
Re: Multiple Client Versions
There is a way to install both clients on the same machine:

Note that Vault is licensed per user. So if you have a Vault 5 server, then upgrade your licenses to Vault 6 and install Vault 6 on a different machine, the same named users can connect to both, but you can't introduce additional users.
