Separating two folders with branches

Post by Etienne Boucher » Thu Sep 20, 2012 11:15 am

We have two folders which have had files branched and shared from one to another. Is there any way we can split one of the directories to another server, without having the references to the second folder?

Installed with the Vault client is the Vault Folder Export Import Tool. You can use that tool to export a folder from one server and import into another server.

Hello Beth,

That's what I tried, but it brings files that were branched from the second folder, even when exporting just the first folder. I need to separate these so the first directory is standalone.

The files that are branched into a folder are part of that folder now, and there isn't a way to make those individual files be ignored as if they weren't part of that folder.

What you could try is to delete the items you don't want exported, and then don't check the option to export deleted items. Then you could undelete the files again so that they are back in your tree view. That should get you the same results you are looking for.
