Vault 6 and VS2010, cannot set Enhanced client

Post by Rybaksoft » Fri Sep 07, 2012 10:09 am

Hi.
I used VS2010 Pro and Vault Client 5.1.2. Today our team have updated to Vault 6.0.0.477.
I have updated the Vault Client too, but now I cannot select Enhanced option in VS2010. I can use only Classic. When I try to select Enhanced I see a warning, like:

The 'SourceGearLLC.VaultVsipClient.VaultVsipClient,
VaultVsipClient, Version=5.1.2.19281, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=d0dd1817f18e65b3' package did not load
correctly.

So, now I cannot load any project in VS...

I have VS2010 SP1.
Vault Standard 6 was unistalled and installed again, but it is not helped.
Please, help me.

Here's what I'd like you to try:

1) Download a Vault 6.0.1 client. We just released it: http://download-us.sourcegear.com/Vault ... _30598.msi.

2) Run a command prompt as administrator.

3) Run the VaultProClient_6_0_1_30598.msi from the command prompt. That will start the install with elevated privileges.

Then let me know your results.

Hi.

I have installed a standard Vault client VaultClient_6_0_1_598.msi from your site: http://sourcegear.com/vault/downloads.html.

All steps were as you described, but the result the same: I cannot select Enhanced Client in Option dlg.

Could you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread?

Can you include in that email:
  • - the vault_client_install.log found in your user temp directory
    - whether the client machine is 32-bit or 64-bit
    - the registry key areas HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0 and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0.

Hi Beth.

I have sent a email to 'support@sourcegear.com' as you asked with attached files.
What the next? Should I re-install SP1 or the whole Visual Studio 2010? Or...

UPDATE: I think we found a root cause for the issue. This happens on 32-bit machines that have in the registry a WOW6432node under HKLM/Software. A bug has been logged.

F: 16539

In the meantime, the workaround is to rename HKLM/Software/WOW6432node, then install the Vault client, then return HKLM/Software/WOW6432node back to its correct name.
