Cannot login to vault

Cannot login to vault
Hello
as it happened a long time ago, I cannot connect to the server.
The GUI Client (5.1.2.19283) is stuck on
"retrieveing repository structure"
It seems to happen on every new system we install, or new user account. Any idea on how to solve that ?
When it happens on an existing user, cleaning all the temp folders often fixes the issue
Best regards
Xavier

Do you have a large repository tree?
What's the most recent change you made to your Vault installation? Did you upgrade, move your server, etc.?

Re: Cannot login to vault
There was no recent configuration update(for months).
More branches (one or two "big"), but it's not a huge DB (3.5 GB)

Re: Cannot login to vault
If users are experiencing slow logins, they can try disabling the setting in the Vault Client under Tools->Options->Network Settings-> Request database delta on repository cache miss.
Usually a delay on login means the client is waiting on the server to compute a delta in the database. This can sometimes be a slow operation, and "unchecking" the option can sometimes lead to improved performance.

Is this a problem you're having right now?
Can any users connect to Vault Server?
Is just one user having a problem?

Re: Cannot login to vault
Only on PC I was trying to move to...
I gave up.
But I'm concerned as this happens more and more frequently (every couple of week now). Most of the time, this is when we restore a fresh PC, or create a new account on a PC (we do this frequently because of the dedicated hardware/setup we have on each of them).
I'll try to move to v6 mid-september. Any performance improvement or fix that might help ?

You can access Tools->Options->Network Settings without being connected to the Vault Server. Just open the client without connecting. If users are experiencing slow logins, they can try disabling the setting in the Vault Client under Tools->Options->Network Settings-> Request database delta on repository cache miss. . . .

If the login problem happens on a new PC it could be that it is taking a log time to establish the client-side cache for the first time.
Perhaps the connection is timing out. I don't think Vault 6 would solve this.
To troubleshoot this, we would want to see the Vault Server log and a client log. To enable client-side logging for the client.

The Vault log is called sgvault.log and is in %windir%\temp\sgvault on the server machine.
