I'm trying to locate a file in my repository using the Search tab on Vault Professional GUI client, I selected Search by Filename Search on the folder with the recursive option on. I entered the Filename and hit enter, it says "Searching for files that match the selected criteria on the StatusSearch pane..." on the status bar but it's been a while and nothing is coming up. There's no indication of progress or that the search is done, is there a better way to search the repository to locate a file?
I'm using Vault Professional version 5.2.1
How do I search for a file?
Re: How do I search for a file?
It doesn't really give a Search Done indicator, because it's possible to have it performing background updates. If nothing shows up, then that file might not be present.
To get a better idea of what to expect, enter a file name you are sure is present in the folder you have selected. Does that show up?

Re: How do I search for a file?
Thank you Beth.
Yes searching for a file that I know exists shows up after a while.
The thing is, I want a yes or no answer to "is this file somewhere in the repository?" The problem is that without any indication I can't tell whether the file doesn't exist in the repository or the search is not yet complete. I'm waiting for the search to finish, although I don't know how long it's going to take or if it's done, should I wait a little longer? See, maybe the file exists, maybe I'm impatient...
I wanted to avoid getting all the stuff from the repository and performing the search on my local files, but I guess that's I'll have to do.

Re: How do I search for a file?
I've logged a feature request to give some kind of indicator of either how far along it is in the search or when it's done. Thank you for your feedback.
